These upgrades are for deployed systems that can receive expansions or need to trade-in and trade-up components to improve system availability or performance.
Memory & RAM: DIMMs
Memory – RAM determines how many processes can run on a server before it experiences performance degradation. The more RAM your server has, the more load it can handle, which yields overall speed and performance improvements.
Storage & Disks: HDDs, SSDs, Solid-state
Add capacity directly to server and provide ability to store or maintain more data locally without hops across network to SAN or NAS. Performance is dependent on the type and speed of the associated storage media.
Accessories: Cards, NICs, HBAs, Cables
Cards – Expansion cards (e.g. NICs, HBAs, CNAs) enable connection of a server to a network, and vary based on protocols/interfaces. Mounting brackets for expansion cards may require low-profile or full-height.
