Trade-Ins & For Sale Equipment
Receive cash or credit towards future OTC purchases in exchange for your equipment.
Our Buying Process
Inventory
Ideally an existing inventory or spreadsheet that includes model, configuration, quantity and location could be shared. If you don’t have the man-power to inventory everything, we can make initial observations from pictures of the equipment to help determine crew size and vehicle type needed for the pickup. The more detail you have, the more accurate our valuation can be.
Negotiation
Once the type and amount of hardware is confirmed, availablility and Fair Market Value (FMV) will help OTC assign value. OTC may opt to dispatch personnel to help safely package hardware for safe travel and freight pickup, or OTC may send packaging material to you and allow you to package. If you’re self-packing, OTC will require pictures before packaging is sealed for freight pickup to safeguard both parties if equipment does not arrive in expected condition. OTC will coordinate or provide freight labels and or BOL paperwork. An authorized agreement is required for acceptance of equipment; otherwise, unauthorized shipments will be refused.
Receipt
Upon receipt of your equipment, OTC will inspect and audit the equipment to ensure quantities and quality match expectations of both parties. Any discrepancies will be discussed before proceeding. Depending on volume and time of season, OTC asks 30 days’ time for this process to complete.
Payment & Certificates
OTC will issue payment and applicable certificates upon audit completion.

What kind of valuation can I expect?
FMV (Fair Market Value) is the main factor for assessing value. Additional considerations are geographic location affecting freight costs and the level of OTC involvement for auditing and packaging.
What is the difference between a trade-in vs. purchase?
Depending on the quantity involved, OTC may offer greater value for the hardware as a credit vs. cash-purchase as an “advanced discount” towards future purchases. Credits also help the realized value remain close to the department or group it originated from, vs. getting buried in a company’s overall balance sheet.
What does OTC do with the equipment?
Equipment will be inspected for operation and resale, either as complete or individual components. Hardware that is no longer useful will be responsibly scrapped and recycled.
Does OTC provide data erasure or certificate of destruction?
Yes! These certificates are included at no cost, unless greater detail is required (i.e. individual serialization of components, extensive documentation or indexing of hardware, etc.).
